Box Day

So on Monday the curriculum came knocking on my door. Actually it was the delivery guys. And yes I wrote guyS. I had no idea ordering Kindergarten and Art curriculum from Sonlight meant 4 boxes (large) came to the door. It was beyond exciting. For a former teacher, it was my cocaine! ha!
The kids dug right in and I was so excited about all the literature and lesson plan book. This curriculum has EVERYTHING! I even found dirt in one box for a science lesson. Seriously!
I also made an art supply box each for Avery and Reece. Wow! crayola markers, crayons, colored pencils, OH MY! All under a dollar at Wallyworld.
We're still working on drywalling a wall in the basement for our homeschool room. But our bookshelves are full of books and school supplies, the table is painted and sporting the orange vintage chairs from my parents.
It's so fun to start ripping open boxes and reading through the materials. I am of course a little apprehensive and feeling the stress a little bit about such a huge responsibility and questioning everything we've decided. But I remind myself this is normal whenever you start something new so I am trying not to dwell on that part too much.

Head on over to Angie's site for more info and join the linky thing if you are homeschooling.

P.S. I would post pics but still haven't figured that out on the new mac!

I can't wait to hear all about it! We're thinking we may have to wait to start until after Christmas break. Did you go with Sonlight? How did you decide which core to get? I tried to figure out which we would need, but I got confused. Anyways, I'll be praying for you! You will do great!

Thanks for dropping by my blog! Yes, it is a bit daunting tkaing on the responsibility for teaching your own kids and you do question everything! I am an ex-teacher too, but that makes no difference in the doubting yourself stakes.
The one thing that I keep reminding myself is that we have another 10 years or so to get it right. As a teacher in school you only get one year to get it right with the kids in your class. As a homeschooling mum you've got years!
All the best as you begin your homeschool journey.

Welcome to the homeschooling journey (and to the "Sonlight" family--this is our 3rd year using it and we love it!). Your curriculum came in 4 boxes?!?! Mine generally arrives in one large one--I think that utter giddiness would set in if mine arrived in 4. haha

I'd been looking to see if you posted what you decided to use and am not sure how I missed this post of yours. :)
